Local SEO in Mallorca
What it is exactly, how to tell whether your business needs it, and what it costs. No jargon.
What it is
Showing up at the top when someone searches for what you do
Local SEO is the work of getting your business into the first results on Google when someone on the island, or someone coming to the island, searches for the service you offer.
It isn’t advertising. With ads you pay for every click and disappear the day you stop. Here you earn your place, and once earned it is kept with work, not with a daily budget.
What it is made of
Two things, and hardly anyone touches the second
For a local business in Mallorca both matter, but not equally.
Your Google Business Profile
It’s what appears on the map when someone searches on their phone. It brings calls and directions directly, without anyone visiting your website.
- Categories, service area and opening hours
- Up-to-date photos and posts
- Reviews: getting them and replying to them
- Your map position against your competitors
Your website
It’s what convinces people who have already found you, and what gets you into the searches that don’t show a map.
- One page per service and per area
- Speed on mobile
- English and German versions done properly
- Tracking of calls, forms and WhatsApp
Most businesses on the island have a decent website and an abandoned Business Profile. That’s usually where the quickest wins are.

Price
What local SEO costs in Mallorca
What it depends on, and what I charge.
| Service | What it is | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Audit | Diagnosis and 90-day plan in 48 working hours. VAT included | €130 |
| Project | Everything set up and left working | From €1,500 |
| New website | With local SEO and monthly maintenance, 6-month minimum | €1,500 + €400/month |
| Monthly plan | Monthly upkeep with a report, two levels | €475 or €850/month |
| Pay per lead | You only pay per enquiry; monthly cap from €600 | Based on budget |
The price goes up with three things: how much competition there is in your sector, how many languages you need, and the state of your website to begin with. The audit tells you which of the three affects you before you decide anything. All prices in detail.
Timeline
When you start to notice it
| When | What usually happens |
|---|---|
| Weeks 1–4 | The Google Business Profile is fixed. It’s the first thing that moves, and sometimes calls already start coming in. |
| Months 2–3 | New pages start appearing in low-volume, high-intent searches. |
| Months 4–6 | You notice it in the searches that really bring in work. |
| From month 6 | It consolidates and expands to more services, more towns or more languages. |
These are typical timelines for local businesses on the island, not a promise. Anyone who gives you fixed dates either doesn’t know the field or isn’t telling you the whole story.
Questions
What everyone asks
Is it the same as paying for Google Ads?
No. With ads you show up while you pay and disappear the day you stop. With SEO you earn your place and keep it with work. For a local business the ideal is usually SEO as the base and ads at specific moments in the season.
My website is years old. Does it need rebuilding?
Hardly ever. Normally you keep it and fix what fails: speed, structure and content. I only recommend rebuilding if it’s built on something that stops you changing the basics, and in that case I tell you why.
Does it work for a seasonal business?
Especially so. The move is to work on tourist searches and resident searches at the same time, because residents search all year round. That’s how November stops being a dead month.
What if my customers are British or German?
Then that’s where there’s most to gain. In German and English, competition in Mallorca is much lower than in Spanish and the customer spends more. One condition: it has to be written natively in each language, not translated from the Spanish, because people don’t search the same way.
How much does it cost to rank a website on Google?
For a local business in Mallorca, €350 to €900 a month is the normal range for ongoing work, plus a project fee if it has to be built from scratch. Below that there simply isn’t time to do the work.
